The Greeks and heroes of Greek mythology
Hades
The God of the Underworld.
the kingdom of Hades is the misty and gloomy abode of the dead, to which all mortals went. Later Greek philosophy introduced the idea that mortals were judged upon death and rewarded or cursed. Very few mortals would be able to leave this realm once they had entered, with the exception of the heroes Heracles and Theseus. Even Odysseus in his nekyia calls the spirits of the deceased, instead of descending to them.
